How often do you feed wet food?

I was just wondering how many times a day / week / month you give your cats wet food?

Is it actually good for their health? Or does it just depend on the quantity they eat?

And what kind of fresh food can I give them? (As an occasional treat)

Thanks in advance.

Not an answer, but a question for Séverine: can you feed your cat solely on wet food like Applaws?

The Orijen dry food seems to be making him put on weight.....

Personally, I give each of my cats 50g of wet food every morning, followed by dry food, but I keep their portions controlled. As they’ve been neutered, they tend to put on weight if I leave food out for them to graze on all day.

Regarding the wet food, I’ve recently swapped from using pouches to Animonda Carny, which you can find on Zooplus, and I’m really pleased with it! The ingredients are good, it’s great value, and my cats absolutely love it! 😁

I'm thinking of adding wet food to my cats' diet as well. I'm considering going for the Applaws trays; they're reasonably priced and the ingredients look really good to me. How often should I be feeding wet food to my two neutered male cats?

While a raw diet (BARF) is the best option, you can get close to it by giving them high-quality dry food left out for them and some wet food (like Applaws or other premium brands).

Mind you, I’ve got my neighbour's cat on my lap right now, but I don't have any cats of my own that I feed. So for portions, I’d say for a neutered cat that’s putting on weight, maybe wet food once a week; otherwise, two, three, four times or even every day.

My cats have dry food available all the time. My boy gets one or two pouches a day and the female has half a pouch, as she prefers her dry food. They both get a few prawns at lunchtime though, and some ham or a bit of tuna during the day. Such a hard life, eh?...

One wet food pouch a day split into three meals, and Royal Canin dry food left out all the time.

Every now and then a bit of ham, turkey, or chicken, and the occasional treat or two.

I feed them the small Gourmet tins in the morning, but I’m going to switch to Cosma.

Personally, I give it to them every Saturday, and then on Tuesdays and Saturdays during the holidays.

Hi there, I feed half in the morning and the other half in the evening.

From what I’ve seen in consultations, I have a different take on it, but as long as your cats are doing fine, that’s the main thing. (Mind you, I don’t know which brand those cats were being fed.)

I hadn’t spotted how much you were feeding them per day ;)
