Fur loss behind the ears

Evening everyone!

I'm new to the forum; I'm currently looking after my partner's cat and I've recently noticed some fur loss behind his ears...

Fur loss behind the ears

When I have a look and feel the area, everything seems normal and it doesn't seem to be bothering him.

But I've never seen this before (or at least I hadn't noticed it until now).

He has the same thing on both sides.

Has anyone come across this before, or should I be worried?

Cheers,

My cat has the same thing, hair loss behind the ears. Have you managed to get an answer from the vet since then?!

Hi there, My cat is going through the same thing. The vet wasn't able to tell us the cause of this patchy hair loss, but they've ruled out mange. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Evening, I’ve just noticed the same thing on my cat (a Ragdoll) on both ears... I’m going to book an appointment with the vet. Did you get any news on your end? Thanks in advance

    Hi everyone!

I’ve booked a vet appointment just in case, yes.

There haven't been any fights as he’s an indoor cat, but we did move house about a month ago.

I only noticed this a few days ago—it seems like a bit of a delayed reaction if it is down to the move...

Is it possible that it’s related to a change in diet? I’ve recently changed his dry food brand.

(Switching from a garden centre brand to a different one from a pet shop).

Sorry, has there been a fight recently? Or any major stress (from a cat's perspective!): a new baby, moving house, a big change (from a cat's point of view, again!) to their daily routine, or an attack by another animal?

    Hi there

    Personally, I’d be worried.

I’d get them to the vet as soon as possible.

Losing that much fur isn't normal.

Fleas? Have you checked for any?

Has there been a fight recently?
