Hi, my cat's tail is always hanging low, does anyone know why this might be? 😁

    A tail tucked right between the legs is usually a sign of fear. Mind you, it depends on how each cat normally carries their tail; sometimes they just wander around in a neutral, relaxed way and keep it quite low and loose.

    A swishing tail, with all my cats, has always been the sign they’re about to pounce. They’re annoyed, thumping their tail on the floor and then – bam – out come the claws and teeth.

    And if they’re feeling aggressive or defensive, they usually ‘crab walk’ (even if it’s only slightly).

    It takes a bit of time to get used to reading a cat’s body language and to spot the differences depending on their individual temperament.

    When we first got Dundee, it was my partner's first time with a cat, and he didn't really understand when I’d say, "Ooh, he’s a bit grumpy" or "he’s happy". Now he picks up on his cat’s every little expression! 😁

    Our cat always has her tail down too! It’s because of the weight of her semi-long fur... she also often has her tail in GPS mode just like yours... 😁

    In all seriousness, I feel a bit bad if I’m the reason you’re leaving, I didn't mean to... Sorry 🙄 A low tail can have several very different meanings, so without a photo or a drawing, it’s hard to know exactly what your cat's low tail signifies. The first thing that comes to my mind is a cat walking with its tail between its legs, which is clearly a sign of submission, but usually, they do that between males, not towards a human... Then there’s the low tail, like the 2nd image on the 3rd row, but that actually goes along with the cat’s movement and gait; you can't really interpret the meaning without seeing the way they move. On this little chart, it says "potentially aggressive", but that’s only if the cat is moving forward with its tail in that position and crouching low to the ground in a sort of semi-stealth mode – then, yeah, I’d agree with "potentially aggressive". But without the movement and the position of the WHOLE cat, rather than just the tail, it’s impossible to interpret it for certain.

    Oh no, why did you go? It was no big deal, it was funny!

    Plus, I’ve been cracking myself up again because the meanings behind tail movements are just hilarious...

    @Cuicuicui😂

    Watch your spelling! You've missed an 's' and it’s turned into a bit of a rude word! 😂

    As for the tail
