Cat behaviour while wearing a recovery suit

Hi everyone,

I’d love to hear from anyone whose cat has had to wear a recovery suit or onesie.

To cut a long story short, Kiri was spayed on Tuesday, 30th Oct. But she’s been a bit of a nightmare and kept licking her incision, and she actually managed to pull out several of her stitches.

I ended up taking her back to the vet yesterday. Madam got the full works: an anti-inflammatory jab (there’s a lump under the scar), stitches removed, staples put in... and a recovery suit. I’ve also got to apply a healing cream.

I was really dreading the suit, but to my relief, Kiri is eating and drinking as normal and is still using her litter tray without any mess.

On the other hand, she’s very lethargic. She’s hardly playing at all and spends most of her time sleeping. She’s also been shaking herself a lot (her whole body and then her paws one after the other) ever since she’s been wearing the onesie.

What have your experiences been like?

I have to keep the suit on her until at least Saturday morning (ideally until Monday, but I don’t think I’ll last that long...).

Your best bet would be to give your vet a ring tomorrow; they’ll be the best person to advise you.

Best of luck to you, and especially to her.
