Hi everyone!

I’m not sure if you’ve ever seen this with your cats before, but my little kitten Mina has been licking the floors and walls almost all day for the past few days :(

I was thinking it might be some kind of nutritional deficiency, even though I give her good quality dry food and she has plenty of cat grass to help her digestion...

Thanks and have a lovely Sunday! :)

Evening all, my cat is licking the walls and peeing on himself. Does anyone have any idea what might be wrong with him? Thanks.

My cat is 3 and a half; she's always jumping up on the table and licking the dishes lol, the knives, the spoons, absolutely everything. Any ideas why? lol

Hi, sorry for the late reply... mine had an upset stomach, so she had an injection and a course of tablets and she’s all better now :) I can’t remember the exact name for the condition...

Evening, my cat's been doing that too – he's been licking the stone wall on the stairs and the concrete patio outside for a few days now...

    I don't understand why?

    What did your vet say?

Thanks for your message :) I’ve tried to have a sniff where my little one has been licking the walls and floors, but I couldn't smell anything - I thought she might have been attracted to a particular scent. Since she’s doing it so regularly though, I’m taking her to the vet tomorrow afternoon to see what’s going on... her bowl is always full, or at least it's never empty for long :) I’ll let you know what the vet says :) Have a lovely evening.

So, it’s either a scent you can't pick up on that's drawing him to the walls, or he’s doing it to self-soothe.

Licking isn't always about grooming; it actually helps to calm cats down when they’re stressed, frustrated, or annoyed, for example.

Mine does this when her bowl is empty and she’s waiting for her dry food. Because she’s frustrated about not getting her food straight away, she self-soothes by licking the furniture.
