My cat meows whenever we're eating

He's been doing this ever since we brought him home, and I thought he'd eventually settle down, but he hasn't.

As soon as we start prepping food, he starts meowing and getting right under our feet; he even jumps up at us when we sit down at the table.

When I'm getting dinner ready, I try to ignore him, and when he jumps on us, I tell him "no" and move him away, but it's no use... he just keeps going.

He has a bowl of dry food available all the time, and it's always full. He eats a lot.

I don't understand why he's doing this, and I'm refusing to give him anything other than his dry food.

He's about 4 months old, and I don't know what his previous owners were feeding him.

Any advice?

    7oz over 3-4 days isn't enough

I’ve had him for about three weeks now. I’m currently feeding him Pro Plan kitten, and I’m planning on getting some Prota 21 which was recommended to me, but I’m waiting a bit before I order it so I can do a proper transition.

He gets through about 0.4 lbs of dry food every 3 to 4 days.

Cats don't normally demand that much; I'm waiting to see the answers to Axu's questions.

Maybe he just wants to eat like you do! He might be fed up with having the same dry food all the time. My cat does the same thing, but he soon settles down if we ignore him! ;)

I reckon this little guy must have been used to eating with his owners before ^^

How long have you had him?

What kind of dry food are you feeding him?

    Is he eating well?
