Hi there,

My 2-month-old kitten suckles my earlobe when he's purring and wants a cuddle. He also rubs his nose against mine...

Is this normal behaviour?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

You got your kitten far too young, which is exactly why he’s doing this.

I really hope he doesn't end up with behavioural issues further down the line...

That said, you need to stop him from doing it now. If you let him carry on and then try to stop him later because he’s actually hurting you, he might take it badly.

I’m speaking from experience as I had the exact same issue when I was little.

Yeah, mine too, they’re so soft and cuddly.

Little Gatsby does that to me too—ears, neck, nose, chin, and little licks as well... it’s so cute. He’s ever so gentle with it :)

It’s perfectly normal, hehe! Liquorice is 11 months old and still does that to me too! ;)

Of course it’s completely normal! He’s been separated from his mum, and as far as he’s concerned, you’re his mother now. He needs that contact to thrive and feel secure. Whatever you do, don’t push him away—you’d make him so miserable. He’ll grow out of it naturally as he gets older.
