My kitten is eating a lot

I've been away for a week on a work trip and I've come back to find my little kitten... with a right little potbelly! (My partner has clearly been looking after him well, from what I can see).

For a three-month-old kitten, he is getting Pro Plan kitten dry food ad lib, plus one pouch a day, which is about 100g (0.2 lbs) of wet food.

I think that’s a bit much, isn't it? To give you an idea, I bought a 400g (nearly 1 lb) bag of dry food two weeks ago and it's almost gone...

I've spoken to my partner and told him to cut back the portions... but he says our cat is hungry all the time; I just think he's struggling to self-regulate!

Thanks for your replies

Ah, right, Dellys, I see what you mean now, sorry!

So for a growing kitten, 100g of wet food a day isn't too much alongside their dry food, is that right?

Thanks for pointing out my mistake, Dellys. Best wishes!

Hi Jocya. I don't think you quite got what I meant ;) I was saying that I don't think 100g of wet food a day is too much for a growing kitten. That's what my kittens get. Mind you, it's true that the adults get less, even though I give them wet food every day.

Yeah, that's why I leave dry food out all the time; I don't give any wet food.

Personally, I don’t necessarily think a 100g pouch of wet food is too much for a kitten.

Let’s not forget that kittens eat a lot (more than an adult cat), as they're still growing.

Thanks on his behalf! ^^ He knows he's a handsome lad; he definitely acts like a bit of a prince at times lol.

I couldn't afford to buy one, but a friend's mum had a litter and gave him to me, and I have to say, he really rules the roost...

I reckon he's going to be a big cat, judging by the size of his dad.
