When Meter Maid arrived at Austin Pets Alive! Shelter, the dog was heavily pregnant. But just days before her puppies were due staff grew concerned about her.

Shelter staff took Meter Maid into their care just 16 days before her babies were due.

Struggling to walk

A few days before the puppies arrived, Meter Maid seemed to be struggling with walking and her tummy had become huge. But once Meter Maid’s puppies arrived, staff understood why.

Austin Pets Alive took to Facebook to share the news, celebrating Meter Maid’s extraordinary journey into motherhood, leaving everyone in awe.

The devoted pup mum delivered an astonishing 11 babies!

Now it made sense why the dog’s tummy was so big and she could hardly walk!

Support for canine family

While Meter Maid is relishing her new role as a devoted mum to her tiny pups, the shelter has taken to social media to explain the significant financial responsibility of caring for such a large family.

They estimate feeding, vaccinating, and housing such a large litter of puppies will cost around $1,000. Therefore, they are urging animal lovers to support the shelter and help it reach its $250,000 fundraising goal as part of its Amplify Austin campaign.

The shelter hopes that generous animal lovers will assist this furry family in their time of need.

We wish the shelter, Meter Maid, and her puppies the best of luck!
