People passed Saba's kennel every day, yet nobody stopped to check in on the emaciated dog. She was so underweight, rescuers feared she may not survive.

Animal rescue organisations deal with difficult scenarios every day of the year, but sometimes cases come along that are particularly upsetting.

When Polish rescue group Fundacja Na Rzecz Ochrony Praw Zwierząt EX LEGE was called in to help the mixed breed dog, they couldn't believe the scene that unfolded in front of their eyes.

Skin and bone

Taking to Facebook to tell Saba's story, the rescue described the shocking conditions she was found in.

So thin the could barely stand, Saba's kennel was placed in direct view of her owners, and anyone that came to visit the property. Despite this, nobody had taken the time to care for her properly, and the poor girl was so thin she was suffering from hypothermia.

She was simply waiting to die, and nobody seemed to notice.

Brave and hopeful

Thankfully, once Saba was with the EX LEGE team, she started to make a miraculous recovery.

In just 7 weeks, she was virtually unrecognisable, gaining weight each day and showing all the staff her wonderful nature.

The saying "where there's life, there's hope" has never been more true than in the case of this beautiful girl, who is now ready to find her forever home.
