When a shelter worker arrived for his shift at the Yakima Humane Society he thought it would be a day like any other. Imagine his surprise when he arrived on site to find a mysterious box had been left at the entrance.
A dangerous act
The shelter worker's heart sank as he read the words printed on the top of the box.
"Keep frozen. Perishable contents", was visible in large, black letters.
Fearing the worst, he tentatively opened the box, almost expecting to find a frozen animal inside.
Peeking out, with the most adorable grey fur and green eyes, was an adult cat. Alive but bewildered and confused, she desperately needed some attention and reassurance.
New beginnings
The cat was renamed Elsa, with a little nod to her rescue story and the Disney movie Frozen.
She was seen by a veterinarian immediately, who was able to treat the signs of a developing injury.
Resilient and with so much love to give, Elsa has wasted no time in becoming the firm favourite with everyone at the rescue. She is so affectionate and cuddly, the staff have no doubt she will make her new family very happy for years to come.
