Zuzi was a homeless dog who had been saved by Howl Of A Dog this past year. She was living in a parking lot in Romania, and would drink from puddles, sleep on the cold cement, and fight hard to survive the cold winds outdoors. The only food she would eat were scraps from several of the workers close by, but there were also always a few people who would push her away.
As soon as the rescuers showed up, they could easily tell that Zuzi was scared. Whenever they got near her, she would set out barking and at times would try to bite them. They were informed that Zuzi had been traumatized when dogcatchers chased her and harshly attempted to capture her with their catch-poles. This completely explained why she didn’t trust any human beings. Due to these awful experiences she had encountered, the rescuers decided not to use a catch-pole.
With the assistance of a veterinarian, they thought that using a tranquilizer would be the best and safest method to get Zuzi. At some point, she quietened down and allowed them to get close to her. Once they got nearer, they saw that she was covered in fleas and wounds, which could’ve been caused by scratching or bites from other dogs.
They quickly got her some medical assistance and took very good care of her. Zuzi even finally got to sleep in an actual bed – there was no need for her to be worried about sleeping on cold cement anymore. She has learned to believe in humans again, and is doing very well indeed.
Her heartbreaking story made its way throughout the world, and a family in Canada offered to adopt her. They got in touch with the rescuers and took the steps needed, and are now Zuzi’s new furever family! Zuzi moved 5 000 miles to her furever home, and is now experiencing the pawfect life she truly deserves!
