Alison Forsyth got to fulfill the dream of her life. For the longest time, she looked for a Samoyed dog to adopt in her area (Seattle, Washington) but she had no luck. She wanted a Samoyed for various reason. Firstly, this dog breed is hypoallergenic, meaning quite manageable for people allergic to dogs like her boyfriend. Secondly, these dogs are extremely active so her dog would be able to keep up with her hobbies like hiking or running. Then, one day, Mochi came along.

Mochi, the service dog

Even though Samoyed dogs are very active, Mochi was a service dog. His owner, an elderly disabled woman, soon realized that Mochi was too much for her. Then she decided to find him a new home where he would be more comfortable and happy. That is how he became a rescue dog.

The rescue dog faces the outside world

When Alison met Mochi for the first time, she fell in love immediately. He’s been in his new home for five weeks now and is still getting used to the outside world. This rescue dog still freaks out, at a lot of things like adults, cars, trucks or noises. However, an unexpected event took place recently. His current owners decided to take him on his very first hike to Rattlesnake Ledge.

Mochi was happy like never before

When Mochi arrived, he was in his natural element. In declarations to the Dodo, Alison said “He loved it, kept pulling us along when we got tired and was so, so, so happy at the top. You can see it in his facial expression. It was new to him and you could see him taking in the whole new experience”.

My name is Daniel Gala. I live in Edmonton, Canada. I am a home-based journalist. Even though writing is what I do for a living, it is one of my truest hobbies right next to reading books from my favourite authors (John Grisham, Dan Brown, J.K Rowling), and taking pictures of my surroundings. I am a dog lover since I was 5 years old when I got my first puppy: the cutest husky in the whole earth called Shani.
