A German Shepherd that inherited $375m (£287m) from dad Gunther III. Gunther III was bequeathed the fortune by the late Countess Karlotta Leibenstein.
2. Grumpy Cat
Tardar Sauce is known the world over for appearing grumpy on countless memes. Media appearances and merchandising have made this cat $99.5m. (£76m)
3. Olivia Benson
Owned by singer and songwriter Taylor Swift, this Scottish Fold cat has amassed $97m (£74) in merchandising and advertising.
4. Sadie, Sunny, Lauren, Layla and Luke
Oprah Winfrey has an estimated wealth of $4b. According to Compare the Market, the chat show host has left $30m (£23m) in her Will for her four dogs.
A chicken owned by the British publishing tycoon Miles Blackwell was awarded $15m (£11m) from Mr Blackwell’s Will. On a plus point, Mr Blackwell also bequeathed a huge amount of money to music and arts charities, according to The Telegraph.
Prior to her death in 2011 an Italian multimillionaire called Maria Assunta had written into her Will a $13m (£10m) provision for her cat.
Blackie was once listed as the world’s wealthiest cat. He was the last in a line of 15 cats belonging to multi-millionaire Ben Rea. To avoid his money falling into the wrong hands Rea bequeathed his $12.5m (£9.5m) fortune to the moggy.
Surely one that may stick in people’s throats: a chihauhau that is treated to weekly spa treatments and wears $10,000 (£7.6m) Cartier necklaces. Conchita was the beneficiary of the fortune of owner Gail Posner.
The World’s Cutest Dog is Boo, apparently. He has amassed £8m (£6m) in merchandising and advertising.
