Its good news for the fat cat Mitzi, who has been so unlucky at finding her happy ending.
By, 25 Feb 2019
When Mitzi the stray cat first arrived at Woodside Sanctuary in Plymouth, in 2017, she was very much overweight. This nine year old fat cat weighed in at around 17lb (7.7 kg) and was known as Britain’s fattest cat! Staff at the shelter thought that the cat, Mitzi had been overfed by students, in different locations, making her a very obese pussy cat.
Unlucky cat Mitzi rehomed several times
After her first visit to the animal sanctuary as a stray cat, Mitzi has been rehomed with different owners. Unhappily however, due to a death, illness and changes in circumstances of her new owners, the fat cat named Mitzi has been returned to the sanctuary a devastating total of four times! This going backwards and forwards is very unsettling for the kitty and as a result, she’s not a happy cat.
Mitzi is now a slimmed down cat
The staff at Woodside Sanctuary have been keeping a close eye on Mitzi’s diet and food intake and as a result, the fat cat is now a slimmed down version of her former self. This tubby tabby cat now weighs only 11 lbs (5.3 kg).
Many offers to rehome the star cat Mitzi
Once the shelter placed an ad looking for a new home, many offers poured in. Cat lovers from the Middle East, the US and Sweden were keen to offer her a new home. Luckily, one of her previous owners came forward and asked to rehome Mitzi with them. Mitzi is already well-acquainted with this family, and staff know that she will settle happily with them.
So the feline who was once dubbed “Britain’s fattest cat”, Mitzi, now has a fairy-tale ending to her tale.
