The purrfect companionship
With over 200,000 followers on Instagram, Choupette is adored by cat lovers all over the world and is surely one of the most famous felines ever known.
But, more importantly, she was Karl Lagerfeld's pride and joy. The Birman cat never left his side and they even travelled the world together. Yep, Choupette is perfectly comfortable travelling on a private jet and even owns her own iPad - she's a real pampered puss!
So how did their wonderful friendship come about? Well, the fashion icon and creative director stole (not really, but, pretty much so!) the stunning kitten from one of his model friends, Baptiste Giabiconi, back in 2011.
Speaking to People in 2013, he explained: “A friend of mine got Choupette when she was only three months old and she had to travel and asked if I could take her in my house and take care of her. And then when she came back two weeks later I said, ‘I am sorry Choupette will stay,”
But what will happen to Choupette?
Now, fans of the beautiful white kitty and her famous Dad are all asking the same question: What will happen to Choupette?
Well, she's definitely not going to go hungry. It's rumoured that the loved kitty could be in line to inherit some of Karl's humongous £150m fortune.
Glamour magazine explained that last year, Karl stated that his cat, amongst others, would definitely receive a share of his fortune. He also said on French TV last year that: “If anything happens the person who looks after her will not go without,” according to the Straits Times.
Choupette is putting her best paw forward
Thousands of comments and messages have been flooding into Choupette's Instagram, with fans concerned as to Choupette's wellbeing. But according to a statement in People from Choupette's blog and social media manager (yes, you heard right!), it seems the sweet kitty is doing as best she can during this hard time.
“During this time, Choupette is coping with the loss the best she knows how to, but at such a young age (and being a cat), that is challenging. Karl Lagerfeld is and will always be her ‘Daddy.’ She is choosing to put her best paw forward and hopes that her loyal fans and followers will continue with their outpouring of love to help ease the pain,”
In a recent blog post, Choupette wrote: "He will forever live in my now broken heart and the hearts of all his supporters around the world. I am eternally grateful for the life and love he gave me through adoption. I will never forget the moments we’ve shared together travelling, exploring, and creating.”
The whole team at Wamiz are sending Choupette all the love in the world. We're certain she'll continue to be loved and looked after, though there's no doubt she'll miss her best buddy, Karl.
