What type of person thinks it’s okay to leave their pet on the streets when they move away? We’ll never understand why someone would do such a thing. Thankfully, there’s always someone out there willing to help - this time, it was the cat’s neighbours!
Neighbours made sure the kitty was safe and warm
The adorable ragdoll cat wandered over to the neighbour's house in search of love, food and shelter - and they were only too happy to oblige!
Debbie, a dedicated cat fosterer from Virginia, received a call from her coworker about the lonely kitty.
"She asked if I could help with a homeless neighbourhood cat that she has been feeding. Of course, I said, 'yes,'" Debbie told Love Meow.
"He has been outside to fend for himself since the fall. Here in Virginia, the winters are very cold, so luckily, he found shelter in my coworker's home."
The lovely lady had been taking care of the abandoned feline for some time. Despite her husband’s severe allergy to cats, she’d made a warm, cosy home for the cat in her garage. Now that’s what we call an animal lover!
"He had a bed, heat lamp and water and food bowls. The cat followed her around like a puppy and he even liked to hang out with her pug dog."
There’s still hope for this abandoned ragdoll kitty
Debbie is now taking care of the poor little cat. It’s been an unsettling time for him, but we’re thrilled to see he’s safe, warm and loved once again.
"He is absolutely magnificent. His temperament is very sweet and docile, and he is confidently walking around like he owns the place already," Debbie said.
Plus, she’s found the perfect name...
"He is such a love bucket, a totally gentle giant. I named him Valentino since Valentine's Day is approaching (and he's such a lover). He deserves a happy life and I'll make sure he gets it!" she said.
