Logan is a seriously sweet German Shepherd puppy with a heart defect. Before he dies, he wants to live life to the full… and that means ticking 100 hugs off his bucket list!

You only have to take one look at Logan, the baby German Shepherd, to realise just how wonderful he is. He’s friendly, sweet, sociable and loves meeting new people - but unfortunately, he has a serious heart condition.

Logan has Pulmonic Valve Dysplasia

After being diagnosed with a serious heart defect, Logan was transferred from a shelter in Washington to Rescued Hearts Northwest, a shelter which specialises in puppies who need extra care.

They knew he wouldn’t live long, and wanted to get him into a foster home where he could experience a fun, happy life - even if it was only for a short while.

Living life to the full

Logan’s new foster family quickly fell in love - and who could blame ‘em? Determined to give Logan the life he deserved, they decided to create a bucket list for Logan.

“My kids, they wanted to take Logan places before he passed away,” Saenz, Logan’s foster Mum, said to The Dodo. “Going to the beach, ice cream, cheeseburger, swimming, play in the snow, etc.”

But one thing stood out about Logan - his love for meeting (and cuddling!) new people. They decided that Logan needed at least 100 hugs before he died.

He got 100 hugs - and more!

With the help of the shelter, Logan’s foster family organised a ‘Hugs for Logan’ event. And guess what? People travelled far and wide just to meet this little puppy. In the end, he got over 200 hugs - yep, he was one happy doggy!

And there’s still hope for Logan

The rescue shelter is now raising money for Logan to undergo a heart surgery which could save his life. If they raise enough money, Logan will go to Colorado for the surgery as soon as he’s six months old.

The rescue refuses to give up on little Logan. Can you share a few pounds to help them reach their target? Head to their GoFundMe page here.

We’re wishing Logan and his foster family all the best - we think he’s got lots more hugs in store!
