Rayo is an 8-year-old German Shepherd who had spent all his life happily living on a farm in the Malaga countryside with his owner. That was until his owner decided to move and not take Rayo with him.
Discarded and alone
Tragically, when his owner left him behind, the poor pup found himself entirely alone in the world. That was until the Society for the Protection of Animals and Plants of Malaga learned about Rayo's plight and took him in.
Abandoning pets when people move away is sadly not uncommon and something that the charity is all too familiar with. The charity took to social media to share Rayo's story and raise awareness of the problem of people selling up and moving on and no longer wanting their pets.
Happy ever after?
Rayo has settled in well to the shelter, where he receives plenty of care and attention. But it's a good family home that he longs for, and the charity hopes it won't be long before the lovely pup finds his forever home. After all, he's a well-behaved, calm and affectionate dog who loves to be stroked and cuddled.
His carers describe him as having a "heart bigger than his body" and say he would make a wonderful pet. He's also excellent when walking on a lead. However, he needs to get more used to being around other dogs as he spent most of his life with just one dog.
Hopefully, it won't be long before Rayo finds a loving family that deserves him.
