Zeus, a Great Dane, has a lot to live up to with his measurements. This two-year-old dog has just been awarded the title of "world's tallest living dog" by the Guinness World Records.
"He had huge legs”
This giant, who lives in Bedford, Texas, is 41 inches tall. As a reminder, a Great Dane male measures between 30 and 34 inches.
As she explains, Brittany Davis, Zeus' owner, has always dreamed of taking in a Great Dane. And that dream became a reality when her brother Garett gave her an 8-week-old puppy from a friend's litter.
Zeus was the biggest of the five-puppy litter: "He's been a big dog since we got him, even for a puppy. He had huge paws," Brittany recalls.
A family meal that changed Zeus' fate
The idea of contacting Guinness World Records was first suggested at a family gathering, when it was discussed that Zeus was probably the world's biggest dog.
A big dog who has simple pleasures like walking around the neighbourhood, sleeping in front of the window and wandering through local markets. His favourite place is still the Dallas Farmers Market: "Everyone knows him, and the vendors all know him. He gets extra treats and lots of attention.”
