The Société Centrale Canine (equivalent of the Kennel Club in the UK), recently celebrated its 140th anniversary.
A nation of dog lovers
For the occasion, the club sent out a survey to see what type of relationship the French had with their pets. And the results are incredible!
Indeed, the survey showed that 84% of dog owners say they love their pets. And 75% said they can’t imagine their lives without them. A third of respondents even said that they were considering getting another dog!
Bringing dogs into the culture
Other interesting numbers include the type of dogs that French people own. 47% of owners opt for medium-sized dogs such as Australian Shepherds, Border Collies, or Siberian Huskies.
The French also show a strong interest in making their culture more pet-friendly, especially in nursing homes - though the statistics show that they’d like hotels and offices to be more pet-friendly too.
It seems as though we agree with the French when it comes to our pets!
