The Queen’s public appearances are always well prepared. People who attend are carefully selected - but sometimes, you just can’t help others from joining in unexpectedly.

Back in February, the Queen celebrated her Platinum Jubilee – exactly 70 years on the throne! The longest of any British Monarch in history.

The Queen spent the day in Sandringham House, where she usually stays from Christmas to February.

Dorgi comes to inspect Jubilee gifts

Although the majority of the official celebrations are taking place this long weekend, the Queen had already started to receive Jubilee gifts and cakes at the beginning of the year. And, as she looked over some of the gifts she received, she was greeted by a very special visitor.

Her Dorgi, Candy, walked nonchalantly into the room, and stopped at the Queen’s feet for a pet before continuing on her way. As she approached, the Queen said:

“And where did you come from? I know what you want!”

We’re guessing she’s talking about treats!

A true dog lover

The Queen has owned over 30 Corgis in her lifetime. She currently owns 2, who are both less than a year old, plus Candy the Dorgi, whom she’s owned for several years.

We know her beloved dogs will be by her side as she celebrates 70 years of devotion to the throne all throughout the year – and we know she wouldn’t have it any other way!
