At the end of 2021, a rescue group found a stray cat in the French countryside.
Rescuers took the animal to the vet’s for a check-up. That’s when they discovered he wasn’t a stray at all: He had a microchip!

But everyone was in shock when they called the owners and found out that “Happy” the cat hadn’t been with his family for 8 years! Indeed, the ginger cat had gone missing when he was only 18 months of age.
Though he was found 140 kilometres away from home, his family didn’t hesitate a single second to go pick him up.
The importance of microchipping
No-one knows what happened to Happy during all this time, but no matter. Thanks to his rescuers, he’s now back with the people who love him, in a nice warm house, ready to stay comfy and cosy all winter.
