Bic mac arrived at the McKamey Animal Center because his previous owner had left him because they didn’t have time for him and also they were moving. The poor little guy was so anxious and feeling nervous around people he didn’t know. It took him a long time to adapt to this new life of his. The volunteers and staff members at the shelter had to be extremely patient and caring with Bic Mac to show him that not all humans are that bad.
Over the few weeks of Bic Mac’s stay, the staff could see some progress. However, as the weeks and months passed, there were no adoption requests. Bic Mac ended up staying 260 days with the McKamey Animal Center before his big day arrived!
A new start in life for Bic Mac
Fortunately the big wait was finally over! The oldest resident of McKamey Animal Center had finally been adopted. One of the volunteers fell in love with Bic Mac and decided to foster him.
“When my coworker took him in to foster, she said the first night he slept, like, 12 hours straight, and just really opened up and wanted to play with her other dog and even wanted to play with the cats,” Lauren told the Dodo. “He really made a 180 and was a great dog overall.”
The shelter volunteers and employees took Bic Mac under their wings and helped him trust humans again. And quickly the dog’s foster family became his permanent family.
A standing ovation for Bic Mac
Because Bic Mac was so appreciated by all staff members, they decided to organise a little surprise for him. When the dog left the shelter, they all gathered together outside to give him a real standing ovation. Bic Mac said goodbye to the shelter to thunderous applause and began a new chapter in his life.
We wish you all the best Bic Mac, you deserve it!
