The strange incident took place just a few weeks ago near an oil terminal in the Artic zone.
A Russian icebreaker was making its way through the thick ice when suddenly, the sailors saw something strange moving in the distance.
When they edged a little closer to the unidentified animal, they realised that it was a young dog! What a dog was doing there on her own, they had no idea, but it was clear that the poor animal needed help.
The Samoyed was exhausted and hungry, not hesitating to approach the ship for help. In fact, in the video taken by the sailors, the adorable dog can be seen wagging her tail happily at the sight of humans!
The sailors promptly lowered a ladder to the ice, allowing the dog to climb aboard. On the ship, she was given lots of much-deserved TLC!
After some research, it was discovered that the beautiful dog was named Aika and belonged to someone in a nearby village, from which she’d been missing for over a week. She was quickly returned to her very relieved owner.
We hope she won’t go wandering on the ice on her own again! That’s a dangerous place for a dog!
