That is, until Her Majesty received the best gifts. Early this year, Prince Andrew purchased two Dorgi (Dachshund x Corgi) puppies for his mother. The pups were intended to help cheer their new owner up while her husband was in hospital.
A few months later, their happy, cheerful presence became even more important when Her Majesty lost her beloved husband of over 70 years.
Queen’s Dorgi puppy passes away
Sadly, just a few weeks after losing the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen was subjected to more heartache when Fergus, one of her Dorgi pups, died suddenly of a heart condition. He was only 5 months old.
Thankfully, the Queen has received a lot of support from her family and of course, the two dogs that remain to her: Candy, a senior Dorgi, and Muick (pronounced “Mick”), who is just 6 months old and Fergus’ brother.
Her Majesty the Queen receives new puppy for birthday
As any dog lover would know, there’s nothing like the love of a dog to keep one’s spirits up. And so, in celebration of the Queen’s 95th birthday, Prince Andrew decided to once again purchase a Dorgi puppy for his mother. The adorable pup was gifted to Her Majesty on what would’ve been the Duke of Edinburgh’s 100th birthday, among other symbolic gifts.
Not only will this dog undeniably bring lots of joy to Windsor Castle, but he will also be a great new companion for Muick, who is also grieving the loss of a beloved family member.
We are so glad the Queen is surrounded by the pitter patter of little Corgi feet again!
