Buddy didn’t have the best start to life. Living on the streets and stealing scraps of food where he could, he must have known things were tough but he had no idea just how tough life could get.
Because poor Buddy, a Labrador Retriever cross, was discovered by appalled rescuers with an extension cord wrapped around his neck and his face set alight.
A horrific crime of cruelty
The pooch suffered extensive burns and rescuers could only deduce that he was set on fire intentionally.
Horrified animal lovers offered a reward of $10,000 for anyone with information about the incident and a 12-year-old boy came forward and confessed.
Because of the boy’s age, he cannot be tried for this crime so is still walking free but passionate dog lovers have raised a petition to get the law changed so minors can be held to account for crimes against animals.
But, our story doesn’t end there! We know that Wamiz readers will be desperate to hear how poor Buddy is.
And, the news is good! Buddy is very slowly but very surely recovering. He’s had two skin grafts to restore the skin on his face and vets have confirmed that he’s making steady progress.
Once Buddy is fully fighting fit, he’ll be placed up for adoption and we truly hope this gorgeous dog gets a home with all the love and attention that he deserves.
