Little Scooter didn’t have the best start to life. Discovered abandoned and seriously injured near a creek in Tennessee, the little guy almost didn’t make it past puppyhood.

Thankfully, three fishermen found him and took him to safety.

A desperate act for freedom

Vets believed that Scooter got his paw caught under something and had to gnaw through his own leg to get free.

Surgery and some serious physio followed and now little Scooter is a three-legged pup with a big smile on his face.

Scooter’s new owner is Joshua Ferguson, a veteran who lost his leg when the truck he was in rolled over an IED in Iraq.

Thankfully, all five soldiers in the vehicle survived but Joshua suffered extensive injuries which resulted in the loss of his leg.

Kindred spirits

Coming to terms with his own injuries, Joshua heard the story of little Scooter and knew he had to give him his forever home.

“It’s impossible not to smile around him”

The unstoppable pair are the best of friends and neither will let their injuries hold them back.

Ferguson says, "There are silver linings to anything!" and we couldn't agree more.

We hope the two are very happy together – they deserve it.
