One of the perils of working on a live outside TV broadcast is the public's unpredictability, especially when one cheeky bystander takes a liking to your microphone.

Most journalists know all too well about the challenges of live TV, especially an outside broadcast.

But even the most experienced TV reporter won't expect to have their microphone whipped away from them halfway through their live report suddenly.

Surprise interruption

Nadezhda Serezhkina, a TV news reporter in Russia, was in the middle of a live TV weather forecast on Mir TV when a four-legged opportunist suddenly upstaged her. But this cheeky chap wasn't interested in getting his five minutes of fame. He wanted Nadezhda's microphone.

The reporter was busy chatting with studio host Elina Dashkueva live on air when a furry head appears in the shot.

Remarkably, a cheeky Golden Retriever had managed to get themself into the shot without anyone noticing. Once he'd got close enough, the plucky pup pinched Nadezhda's microphone.

Before Nadezhda could do anything about it, the dog had run off with the microphone in his mouth. The reporter and her camera operative had no choice but to give chase.

Mic napper

Meanwhile, a rather shocked Elina is left to hold the fort in the studio.

Finally, after managing to track down the dog and negotiate her mic's return, Nadezhda appeared back on screen with her new four-legged friend by her side.

Find out everything there is to know about the Golden Retriever cross.

All seems forgiven as Nadezhda finishes her report with her new furry co-host by her side.
