On Sunday evening, firefighters were called to an address in Nerang on the Gold Coast of Australia. A fire had broken out in a motorbike shop.

The business was closed and no one was inside so firefighters hoped it would be a relatively straightforward call out.

Terrified animals

But, as the fire raged on, it became apparent that the shop next door was also affected. And, that shop just so happened to be a pet shop with a number of animals inside.

The incredible body-cam footage shows firefighters and police officers risking their safety time and time again as they make their way into the burning building and come out holding the terrified animals.

Flames can be seen engulfing the rooms as the heroes walk back into the blackness to rescue each and every animal.

"Little darlings..."

At one point, we hear one of the firefighters say,

“There you go, little darlings.”

As he brings another tiny pup to safety.

All 12 of the pups (including Spaniels and Cavapoos) plus two kittens were safely rescued.

We barely need reminding but we’re so grateful for the emergency services. We hope all of the pups are recovering well.
