A Husky snoozed his way through an armed robbery at his owner's store. Luckily it was only a training simulation. But the pup's performance is definitely under review!

Huskies aren't considered a guard dog breed. Still, they're big enough to scare off any intruders. Unless, of course, they just can't be bothered.

And that's exactly what happened in a jewellery store near Chiang Ma, Thailand, earlier this month. CCTV footage posted on Youtube shows a masked intruder robbing the store at gunpoint.

Sleeping on the job

Meanwhile, the owner's dog continues his mid-afternoon nap by the counter. The lazy pooch doesn't even look up once to see how his dad is doing.

Thankfully, this wasn't a real robbery. Instead, the store owner was running a training simulation to test out some security equipment. And while the new panic button and CCTV camera worked perfectly, it looks like the Husky is facing a performance review and some extra training sessions.

"I have tried training him on what to do in cases like this, but he just slept during our simulation," said store owner Worawut Lomwanawong. "If it were an actual robbery, I would have been dead. He'd probably leave the robber if he was offered treats."

A valid excuse?

But was this so-called guard-dog as lazy as everybody thinks? After all, this was only a training exercise. Dogs can sense fear and anxiety, especially in their owners. So perhaps he knew that his dad was only acting. Or maybe not. Either way, that's the story he's sticking to!
