Foxy the mix-breed is only five months old. But she's only just beginning to learn that there are good people in the world. And that's because this poor pooch spent her formative months chained up on a tiny balcony outside an apartment building in Neuilly-sur-Marne, Paris.
And it gets worse. Foxy was forced to live in her own mess, and she only got fed when her owner could be bothered to bring out a bowl of food. And that didn't happen very often.
Volunteers launch a rescue mission
But Foxy's nightmare is over thanks to volunteers from the Action Protection Animale. They saved Foxy from her own personal doggy hell following complaints by local residents.
Nicole Quichot led the rescue and couldn't help challenging the owner over his inhumane actions. Nicole expected the unnamed man to show at least some remorse. Instead, she was left speechless after he started laughing.
But this guy won't be laughing for much longer.
Justice is on its way
Action Protection Animale has filed complaints for voluntary abandonment and mistreatment, which carry penalties of two years in prison and a €30,000 fine.
As for Foxy, she's starting to put the terrible ordeal behind her. And as long as she keeps getting lots of love, her new carers are confident that Foxy will develop into a healthy and happy dog.
