On Christmas Eve, Bolivia’s Tigre football team were playing a scheduled match. All was ticking along as normal until a stray dog broke onto the pitch.

Thankfully, the furry intruder’s antics were captured on camera for us to watch!

A four-legged pitch invasion

The hilarious video shows a professional football game like any other... until we see an arrival who doesn’t appear to play for either team.

The dog, nicknamed Cachito, lollops around the pitch, apparently with the goalkeeper’s football shoe in his mouth!

The players call for a halt to the game and attempt to catch the stray. Cachito thinks it’s all great fun and assumes they want to pet him so naturally lies down for tummy rubs.

One of the players, Raúl Castro, managed to catch him and hand him over to the officials so that the game could resume.

But, it seems that the footballer took a liking to the dog because the sweet story doesn't end there.

An unexpected happy ending

Cachito escaped, determined to have more adventures, but sadly his luck ran out and he was hit by a passing car.

When footballer Castro heard the story, he quickly offered to adopt the dog and give him a forever home.

We hope that the two enjoy many ball games together for years to come!
