The year 2020 was undoubtedly tough for everyone. But doggy duo Olive and Mabel provided some much-needed refuge for internet users worldwide.
While we all grappled with the boredom of lockdown and had no sport to look forward to, Olive and Mabel and their owner, sports commentator Andrew Cotter, embarked on a series of videos to provide some light relief. The canine pair even starred in their own version of the Olympic ceremony.
The latest video from the internationally loved Labradors shows the duo playing an intense game of Monopoly. As Mabel seems as if she may have to admit defeat this time, Olive simply sighs with boredom.

Owner Andrew Cotter tells the dogs that he understands that they are feeling fed up with 2020, but explains that "we all just have to entertain ourselves at the moment."
With the camera on Mabel, the yellow Labrador, Andrew says, "Worst year you can remember? Well, you can't remember last week, so that's not a stinging appraisal. And you've loved it, having everyone at home all the time. Well, things are definitely going to get better, so, Mabel first of all, what are you looking forward to in 2021?"
Happy New Year!
We then see clips of the pups having a great time splashing in the sea, racing down snowy mountain slopes and chasing a tennis ball on a beach. While Andrew compares the montage to Black Beauty on a budget, he agrees that everyone is keen to get back to exploring the world.
He then asks the same question to Olive. Her dream seems to be more about enjoying a good chomp of her dog food. "Wait, wait, wait, wait, is that all you want?" Andrew asks. "What? It's all about attainable goals this year? And you just want to get back to doing normal stuff?"
The video concludes with another board game battle between the dogs, this time it's chess until Mabel appears to prefer a game of Twister instead.

Ok - I may have had half a glass, but it's getting to that stage of Hogmanay where we all look ahead to 2021 with hopes and dreams. pic.twitter.com/dXBY7tijER— Andrew Cotter (@MrAndrewCotter) December 31, 2020
After posting the video, Andrew was inundated with thanks for Twitter users who said his videos had brought some much-needed joy to their lives during 2020. The success of his videos led Andrew to publish the book, Olive, Mabel And Me: Life And Adventures With My Canine Companions, in October.
