While the new president-elect’s canine companions are already social media stars, Joe Biden will soon be adding a feline friend to his fur family, much to the delight of animal lovers everywhere.
The White House has been without a four-legged friend during the Trump presidency. The 45th US president claimed he was too busy to own a dog, breaking a 130-year tradition.

However, that is all set to change when animal lover Biden’s two German Shepherds, Champ and Major move in, and his brand-new cat.
Joe Biden’s wife, Dr Jill Biden previously hinted at the possibility of adopting a cat when a TV presenter asked her if her husband had promised her anything if he won the election. She replied saying that she would love to get a cat as she loves having a home full of animals.
So who is this mysterious new feline?
Meet Winston Biden
Winston Biden made his debut on his canine siblings Instagram. In a post to mark Thanksgiving, Winston offers some ‘pawdvice’ to followers urging them to consider adopting black shelter cats like him as they make the most ‘purrfect loving companions’.
The Bidens' new cat won’t be the first feline to grace the White House. Bill and Hilary Clinton adopted a stray cat called Socks, who lived at the White House between 1993 and 2001. Following in the 'pawsteps' of Socks was a cat called India, who, along with three dogs, belonged to George W Bush.
