A man from Shenzhen, south-eastern China, was expecting a package to be delivered to his home while he was at work. All he could hope for was a courier with some initiative who may decide to leave the package outside his house and not in plain sight.
What the man had not counted on was the intervention of his dog Nuomi. The German Shepherd would willingly help out around the house, according to the South China Morning Post, but he was not known to communicate fluently with delivery drivers.
I’m on my way!
The home’s CCTV camera picked up the moment Nuomi is roused from his slumber by the ring of the doorbell. Incredibly, the dog steps towards the front door and opens it with his paws before taking the parcel from a less-than-impressed courier.
As if to say thank you, Nuomi barks once at the courier and closes the door.
The courier was clearly nervous, but since the event took place in September, he has been introduced to Nuomi on several occasions. The family hopes that by the courier becoming familiar with the dog he will realise there is nothing to be scared of.
Some highly-trained service dogs are able to answer and open doors, but for the majority, the happening in Shenzhen would be beyond them. Furthermore, Nuomi appears to be just a normal house dog! Go Nuomi!
