Big budgets, impressive animations, famous names and hit soundtracks - Christmas TV adverts have become a traditional part of the pre-Christmas build-up.
But while big-name brands pull out all the stops for their Christmas adverts, a budding amateur has produced his own version and it's moving people to tears.
Heartbreaking story
The advert was made by Sam Clegg and shared on YouTube. The amateur filmmaker set to work making the advert in a bid to raise money for charity to help the elderly over the festive period. He also wanted the advert to show the incredible bond between humans and their canine companions. While he cast his Dad in the leading role, Sam sang on the backing track.
The five-minute advert tells the heartbreaking story of a man and his beloved dog Bruno and begins with the pair enjoying the festive celebrations together.
But then when the pair go out for a walk, lovely Bruno goes missing. The devastated owner searches for his dog and puts up missing dog posters but with no success.
Important message
While the advert does have a tragic ending, viewers need not worry about 'Bruno'. As you might expect, the four-legged star of the advert was played by Charlie, Sam's family dog and is safe and well.
Sam was inspired by Sir Captain Tom Moore, who lives in his town, and his incredible efforts to raise money during the first COVID lockdown.
He hopes his advert will show just how older adults come to rely on their pets for their emotional wellbeing. Sam is dedicating his advert to everyone who has faced hardships this year. The money raised from each 79p purchase of the advert's song will go to help provide support and companionship to the elderly.
