If you’re enthusiastic about US politics or indeed dogs, then you may have noticed that Trump was the first President in 130 years not to own one.
Apparently, the 45th President simply didn’t have time so for the first time in a long time, the White House was devoid of furry friends.
A famous address
But, that’s all soon to be a thing of the past as Joe Biden has not one but two pups of his own and these soon-to-be-famous pups will be heading to live at 1,600 Pennsylvania Avenue soon.
Joe and Jill Biden are the proud owners of Champ and Major, two gorgeous German Shepherd dogs. And these two pups are already a hit on social media!
An old hand and a new face
Champ has been with the Biden family since 2008, when Joe Biden served as vice-president under Barack Obama (so is already familiar with the White House gardens).
But, in 2018, Biden’s daughter Ashley spotted a litter of GSDs on a pet adoption website and the President-elect couldn't resist Major.
What’s more, Major, the adorable German Shepherd, will be the first-ever rescue dog to live in the White House and maybe the most popular rescue on Instagram!
The account @firstdogsUSA is dedicated to these influential pups and is already gaining thousands of followers...it's not hard to see why!
These two pups are joining a long list of presidential dogs but might they just be the first to trend on social media!
