When a dog owner became engaged after her partner 'pupped' the question, she wanted to do something special to mark. She wanted to do something involving her beloved canine companions and came up with the idea of a nice engagement snap.

However, as the clip posted on Reddit reveals, it didn't quite go to plan. In fact, it turned into an absolute disaster!

Pawfect snap

The clip starts with the recently engaged fiancée telling one of her two pups to sit down in front of her. She then puts her brand new engagement ring on the Retriever's nose and tells it to 'stay'.

For a few seconds at least, everything is going to plan as the dog sits still and looks straight at the camera. That is until someone in the room says something which seems to make the dog think it now has permission to eat the 'treat' on its nose.

Goodbye ring

Quick as a flash the dog expertly bounces the ring off its nose and into its mouth before wolfing it down. The next shot is of the floor as the woman can be heard panicking before turning off the camera.

Fellow Redditors weren't very sympathetic to the engaged couples' plight. One posted:

"Honestly, what did they think was going to happen??"

While another agreed, saying:

"Exactly! If that's a trick the dog already knows, why would they do that?!"

It's not known whether the woman has been reunited with her ring (although she'd want to give it a thorough wash first).
