In 2014, the Michigan Humane Society - a group of volunteers tasked with rescuing the stray animals of the Wolverine State - received a call.
A volunteer was dispatched to a residential area of Detroit to investigate. Almost as soon as he arrived he noticed a puppy trapped between household bins. The poor dog was soaked through, and he was clearly hungry and thirsty.
The rescuer was surprised by how readily the puppy came to him. He picked the dog up and began to check her over for obvious injuries.
As he did so he heard a loud meowing coming from nearby. Carrying the dog in his arms the volunteer began to edge slowly towards the sound. There he found a kitten, also soaked through and worse for wear.
Rescue and shelter
He took the two animals back to the shelter where it quickly became apparent that they were in fact best of friends. Left to their own devices, the dog and cat had curled up together and seemed more than a little relieved to be warm and safe.
Workers at Michigan Humane Society named the puppy Camarin and the cat Tomas. All the time the unlikely duo was kept at the shelter they stuck together like glue. In fact, they were later put up for adoption as inseparable, and have since found their forever home…. Together!
