Hugo, a Golden Retriever from Whitley Bay, Northumbria, was just about to head into the back garden to do some 'business' when something caught his attention.

It was the final bars of "Nessun Dorma" coming from the TV. The pooch suddenly stops. His ears prick up. Then he wanders over to TV with his tail wagging.

Hugo can hit the high nights, too!

Hugo plants himself in front of the screen, looking up in admiration as opera legend Luciano Pavarotti belts out the iconic aria. But Hugo isn't happy to just watch. Because when Luciano starts hitting the big notes, Hugo tilts his head back and howls along!

And while Hugo isn't exactly in tune, he makes up for his lack of technical ability with lots of enthusiasm. The pup continues his impromptu duet with the tenor, letting out another impressive howl as the song reaches its climactic finish. Hugo then basks in the post-performance glory as the crowd applauds. And when he gives them a little thank you bark, it's obvious Hugo thinks they're clapping for him!

When's the encore?

Hugo's dog parents shared a video of the adorable performance on Reddit. The clip received over 1,000 comments praising Hugo on a job well done.

"Doggo has a solid baritone," wrote one user.
