Passers-by panic when they realise what's happened to this overweight Lab
A calm day in Beijing brings forth the effervescent dog walkers in their hundreds. But for one overweight former K-9 it spells time to relax on a warm park bench.

It is, thinks Zhuang Zhuang, the ideal place to watch the world go by, and to watch those spritely young pups take in the joys of a summer walk. But unseen dangers lurk for the fat dog on the bench.
The former Changpin District Police dog had settled down for a short nap while his owner ran some errands. Soon - still very much asleep - Zhuang Zhuang began to slide through the bench, his ample behind slipping between the back of the bench and the seat.
Ex-copper keeps calm
Awaking a short while later, the three-year-old dog quickly found himself in trouble. But this was no dog of drama, this was an ex-copper. So there he simply sat: silent, but well and truly stuck.
Noticing Zhuang Zhuang’s owner was still very much absent, passing dog walkers began to take notice of the dog on the bench, and soon realised something was not right.
Rescue bid
In time, a handful of well-meaning pooch pushers took it in turns to try to release the K-9 from his wooden snare. It took them 10 minutes to finally push Zhuang Zhuang free of the bench.

The dog’s owner eventually returned to be told of what had happened. She was embarrassed to say the least, and promise to put Zhuang Zhuang on a healthier diet, and to up his exercise regime!
