It was about a year ago that a pregnant female dog was taken to an animal shelter in Canada. But 13 days after giving birth to her pup, things took a dark turn.

For some unknown reason, the young mum bit her own puppy on the face. The pup suffered severe facial and cranial injuries.

Scarred for life

Luckily, with lots of vet care, the pup pulled through. The vets believed that the heavy scarring on his face would be the only remnants of his heart-breaking attack.

But as Brodie grew older, his face got more and more crooked. His jaw ended up fusing together and as his skull grew, his eye socket was pulled down, making the eye look red and swollen! His brain scans were all normal though, in fact, Brodie is a very smart dog!

Perfect family for special needs dog

Though Brodie's first adoption was a bust, he was thankfully noticed by a wonderful couple that saw the beauty in his soul. Since adopting him, they have showered him with love every single day.

They are currently training Brodie to be a therapy dog, so he can bring comfort to patients who are permanently scarred or disfigured. What a happy ending for such a good boy!
