The perfect coffee morning for dog-lovers
Set across 22-acres in Timperley, South Manchester, Alfie's Island Cafe is destined to become a mecca for dog lovers. Because as well as serving tasty food and drink, Alfie's Cafe will also help rescue dogs find a home.
The furry residents will have the run of the place, so expect to see them strolling between tables and saying hello to all the patrons.
Dogs who are up for adoption will wear little coloured scarfs. Anyone interested in adopting one can then spend a bit more time when them in a dedicated meet and greet area.
The dogs come from Starlight Barking Trust, an animal rescue service in Greece that brings strays to the UK for rehoming. The cafe's owners, Tony and Tania Golden, came up with the idea for Alfie's Island Cafe after getting their own fur baby from Starlight Barking Trust.
His name is also Alfie, and the adorable Golden Retriever cross will 'work' at the cafe on a part-time basis. And by 'work,' we mean getting belly rubs from visitors and helping his doggy pals find their forever home.
There's no official opening date yet, but the owners expect to welcome their first guests within the next few months.
