A rescue for baby Meena
Meena Kumar did not have the most auspicious start in life. Found abandoned in a basket as a tiny baby, the girl's life could have taken any one of a number of different paths. Thankfully, baby Meena was adopted by a loving family who took her in and helped to raise her as the wonderful kid she is today.
From a very early age, Meena loved dogs and when she learnt the number of dogs that are abandoned each year, she knew it was her mission to help.
Since then, Meena has spent most of her weekends volunteering with various dog charities.
A neighbour recently told Meena all about Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, a rescue charity dedicated to finding homes for senior dogs. Meena was broken-hearted to think of the older dogs waiting patiently to find loving families and could comprehend the sense of abandonment that the pooches felt.
So, she made it her mission to help!
Meena is too young to volunteer so instead has taken to fundraising. She dogs sits for neighbours and friends when they need help and gives every penny she earns to the charity.
An impressive fund-raising effort
So far, she's managed to raise a whopping $7,000 and her dad’s workplace have matched it, meaning the charity received $14,000 (and counting) from Meena’s efforts.
Meena, you’re an inspiration and we can’t wait to see the work you do with dogs when you’re all grown up!
