Jessica Breen who lives in Brisbane, Queensland, noticed how well cubby houses were going down with children all around the world during the C-19 lockdown. Unable to go outside to meet friends, some lucky youngsters have been treated to their own playhouses in the safety of back gardens from Australia to the UK.
Mrs Breen and husband Sinclair consider their two dogs - Dorothy the Golden Retriever and Martha the Border Collie - to be a huge part of the family. And as far as the couple was concerned, Dorothy and Martha were as much prisoners of the home as anyone else.
So, to make things easier to bear during the long days of lockdown, they bought two cubby houses from supermarket Kmart and joined them together.
Costing AUD250 each, the houses were not cheap, but they served a tremendously important purpose. The Breens set to work to decorate the houses in fairy lights and bunting, and even added a picket fence. Each door has above it the names of the dogs.
We may never know how much the dogs appreciate the effort that was put into their homes, but they seem delighted with their lot, as do the Breens’ followers online.
