The supposed victim had withdrawn 7,000 EURO from his bank account just before the region came under Covid quarantine in March. In just a few short days the elderly man was taken ill with the virus and was hospitalised.

Fortunately he survived, and returned home several weeks later. However, on his return he believed the money he had withdrawn – which was to go towards a holiday – had been stolen. Quel dommage!

Panic over?

In a panic the Saint-Junien senior citizen contacted the local police for assistance. Believing the money may still be in the house, the police officers began looking, but without success. However, the officers had brought with them their secret weapon: Junior the sniffer dog.

Within minutes the Malinois had uncovered the cash, which had been hidden so diligently that even its owner was unable to retrieve it.
