In October 2019, military and civil police in Rio de Janeiro were carrying out inspections of people suspected to have been involved with drug trafficking and other such crimes.
Best friends to the end
During this inspection, a young homeless man named Fabio de Souza Cesario was asked to come to the station to verify a few facts. The man complied and entered the police’s vehicle.
But what happened next stunned everyone – police force included. As they drove Fabio away, they noticed a dog running by the side of the car and barking frantically. Though they continued to drive at a steady pace, the dog didn’t stop, and even tried to move in closer to the vehicle, as if to force it to a halt.
Realising that the dog would either injure himself or cause traffic disturbance, the police decided to stop and open their doors. The timid pooch was reluctant to hop in at first, but when he saw his beloved owner in the back of the car, he jumped right in to join him.
Now that is what we call a best friend – with you through thick and thin! This story has a great ending too – the two were released shortly after once Fabio’s information had been verified. We’re glad all ended well for these two, they deserve it!
