Our dogs are our family and if your family is under attack, you can do unexpected things. This Florida man acted on instinct when an alligator attacked his beloved dog.

Trent Tweddale was taking his beloved dog Loki for his usual morning walk when horror struck.
A sinister stalker
An alligator, unseen by the pair, emerged from marshes and grabbed Loki by his front paw, attempting to drag him back into the water.
Trent immediately leaped to defend his pooch and grabbed Loki’s collar in a bid to pull him away from the ‘gator. But, even this didn’t deter the aggressive animal and the alligator continued to pull, starting a vicious tug of war that was clearly hurting Loki.
With little thought for himself, Trent then jumped into the water and began what can only be described as a fistfight with the beast, punching him continually until the alligator eventually let poor Loki free.
Summer is mating season for alligators in Florida which could account for the bold and aggressive behaviour.
Trent was lucky to escape with just a few cuts and bruises but little Loki had sustained serious damage to his leg.
A happy ending
An emergency trip to the vet led to surgery to reconstruct the pup’s paw and Loki now has pins and screws in his front leg. Trent is hoping he’ll make a full recovery.
We’re glad that little Loki managed to escape and we wish them both all the best.
