Messy the Labrador and Audi the Husky are neighbours. Separated by a small road, the dogs can hear each other and have been aware of the other’s existence for some time, but as the Covid-19 situation unfolds, things have ramped up a notch.

Everybody needs good neighbours

It seems that Audi is left alone in her yard while her owner goes out to work. She’s taken to crying loudly to let those around her know of her plight and her canine neighbour Messy is only too keen to comfort her.

When Messy hears Audi in distress, she barks loudly to let her know that she’s there and the sound of her pal’s voice seems to comfort Audi who barks back before settling down.

A happy meeting

In an accidental breaking of lockdown rules, Audi’s owner forgot to lock the gate and Messy saw her chance. She ran through the gate, stood on her hind paws and the Labrador hugged her Siberian Husky chum over the fence.

This seemed to be a sealing of the friendship and the two pups embraced each other warmly.

A well-loved snap

Messy’s owner took a quick pic of the hug and the adorable snap has since gone viral on social media.

The two pups are here to show that friendship can endure whatever the odds and maybe to remind us that soon we’ll be able to hug our pals again like before.

We hope the owners are on hand to capture their first play date once this is all over!
